A new audio skew detection and correction algorithm

The lack of synchronisation between a sender clock and a receiver audio clock in an audio application results in an undesirable effect known as “audio skew”. This paper proposes and implements a new approach to detecting and correcting audio skew, focusing on the accuracy of measurements and on the algorithm’s effect on the audio experience of the listener. The algorithms presented are shown to successfully remove audio skew, thus reducing delay and loss and hence improving audio quality.
